Azure is located in the gorgeous Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Waikiki. With ocean views, dramatic high ceilings & cozy lighting, this restaurant is sure to sweep your date off their feet. Azure sources their fish from the Honolulu Fish Auction and it is the only one of its kind between Tokyo and Maine. Only the best fish is featured on the menu. If you plan accordingly, you can have a mai tai at the bar outside and watch the sunset before dinner.
53 By The Sea
Driving up to 53 By The Sea is a little strange. You drive down a few poorly lit back roads to show up at a castle. I’m not exaggerating. The restaurant literally looks like a castle. The restaurant was built as a wedding venue. You can imagine all the fairy tale weddings they host there with the grand staircase and wrought iron gates. Once inside and seated you see a view of Honolulu over the water that twinkles with the city lights.
We have always left Hoku’s with smiles on our faces. The whole fried fish is a winner there. They say it’s “for two” but I think it’s really for four. Any rate, it comes with rice, an assortment of veggie sides & three dipping sauces. If you’re not loving the idea of fried fish, everything else I’ve tried there has been delicious. Try one of their signature cocktails with your appetizer & end the night with a glass of red.
Kimo took me to Michel’s for my birthday the first time we celebrated together. The man knows how to wine & dine. The restaurant is located on the ground floor of the Colony Surf hotel and is right on the beach. With the French inspired decor, stunning view of the city and friendly service, you know you’re in for a treat. My favorite thing to order is the table-side desserts. I’m a sucker for flaming fruit, can you blame me?
