Black Point History
Black Point was created by an ancient volcanic eruption. Black Point gently slopes from an ocean of magnificent crashing waves to black lava-rock cliffs above on the slopes of Diamond Head. Ancient Hawaiians called Black Point Kupikipikio, or “rough sea.” Secluded golden-sand beaches trace the coastline on both sides.
